The Hexhamshire Lasses
Many dancers and musicians have performed with the Hexhamshire Lasses during the last eleven years and the group has gone from strength to strength. They now have a solid core of dancers based in and around the Hexham area, with one or two that can be called upon from further afield for special occasions.
The Lasses kit consists of royal blue pinafore dresses and white blouses trimmed with gingham. Hats and black shoes with bells also form part of our outfit.
The team is always keen to welcome new members as dancers. No experience is necessary, as we will teach you everything you need to know, a good sense of rhythm would be useful and enthusiasm a must! Musicians also welcome.
The team meets on Monday evenings during school terms, at Corbridge Middle School near Hexham in Northumberland starting at 8pm. During the winter months we teach our dances at all levels. After this we like to focus on practises for the coming spring and summer events.
There is a lot to be gained from being part of a morris side, socialising, dancing at local village fetes and pubs, weekends of dance with other teams, even travelling abroad. It’s also a good way to keep fit and have fun at the same time.
