Whalton Bale/Baal Fire

The ceremony dates back to a time when people used to greet the progress of the sun throughout the year with ritual fires.

Before the lighting ceremony children and adults dance on the green and in the street, and afterwards Hexham Morris and the Hexhamshire Lasses join in the celebration.
